IIRC, there's a greatly diminishing return in most professions after 125 or so. I wasn't trying to suggest it was the be-all/end-all.

And surprising as it may sound, law school success is a lot more about strategic planning than brute force studying, not that there's a high barrier to entry there, either. With a couple notable exceptions, 1st-year law classes are curved, so you're fighting against your classmates in the first place, however smart they may be.
