I can take care of that as soon as I figure out which plants are my purple ones. I have white and purple in two different places but I can't remember which color is in which place.

I'm developing a blister on my middle finger (of all fingers) using the hand pruner. Amazingly my rotator cuff can tolerate the long handled pruners. I may have found a way to get an upper body workout and avoid the orthopedic surgeon forever!

Two days and only fifteen feet of dead ivy cleared. I have mixed feelings about the life I found at the very bottom because I never want to clear dead ivy again. Some of the vines are two inches in diameter. It's a tangled mess in there.

Ok, with all the ivy that we have in front and back, maybe I should just set a controlled fire now.

That's not two solid days of work. I probably spent about 2 hours each day. Is yours dead too? There's life at the ground coming from the roots underground. I thought of running a lawnmower over it. Glad I didn't since I found two inch wines. My husband thinks I should use the electric hedge clippers. Maybe tomorrow.

Phew! I may get the weedwacker over the dead parts. About 75% is dead but I do see shiny new growth emerging.

I didn't think of a weedwacker. That will work on the thinner stuff.

I cut down my fountain grass this afternoon. Its in the back of my house and fenced in so i didnt cut them down last fall. While cutting the dead grass I kept getting harrassed by a sparrow. Just as I was about to cut the last grass, I came across a little woven nest with three tiny eggs. I didnt disturb it but will have to deal with a ugly fountain grass for a month or two. Im not sure how long it takes the hatchlings to take flight.

That's so cool. I quickly googlged it. You'll only have ugly fountain grass for a month or less.

12 days to hatch. 14 days to fly after hatching. Stay away from nest so parents don't abandon it.

The parents were so anxious to get to the nest. I did manage to take a picture though. Once i went back into the house, the birds went back to their routine. She even "fixed" the disturbed grass back to her specification.
