For $30 you could have gotten a weekend pass for the America's Showcase hockey tournament being held at the RMU ice rinks. The event allows high school students from all over the country play against other states and get exposure to college recruiters. Girls and boys were selected for their state teams (or in the case of PA, the Pittsburgh team). Boys Pittsburgh team includes players from several area HS including Armstrong, Hampton, Bethel Park and Bishop Canevin.

I'm pleased to say that team Pittsburgh beat NJ, Missouri and Indiana and then went on to the finals and beat NY. The game against California is going on now (although CA has more shots on goal so far). My godson is on the team and he said it's been a blast to hang out with other players and talk to recruiters.

I agree, you just gotta pick your spots. I choose to hit a baseball game for 20 bucks, and not buy 10 dollar beers.

Related: Heinz Field has the third highest beer prices of any football stadium in the US, Which NFL stadium has the most expensive beer? | For The Win

This is all part of the county drink tax and PA alcohol taxes of course, but it still never feels good to be raked over the coals like stadiums do to their fans here.

Yo, went to the hockey game last night, 250 a pop, got them for free from my wife's boss. It's good to be the King.

Had one beer, 9 bucks.

Sheesh.

That's a great deal. And you got to see a Pittsburgh team in a playoff game this year.

Saturday's game was awesome! Such a great vibe in the Consol... even pregame.

I hope they finish off CBJ tonight.
