I probably should have checked that first before posting. The person I heard it from was an employee of Bossa Nova so didnt even think of that. Sorry folks.

Station Square was home to Pittsburghs first dueling piano bar many years ago, which was Jellyrolls. It use to get packed on weekends.

Of course that was when SS was a hopping place to be with Chauncys, Cheese Cellar, Tambellinis, and more, and each with waiting lines halfway down the concourse, especially nights before a holiday.

Not so sure these days on how good anything does in SSquare when it comes to nightlife.

Exactly why it seems like it belongs in Station Square to me. This place is like a TGI Fridays but with crappy and awkward live music. The drinks are crap, the decor is awful, and the best they can do is play baby got back on an electric keyboard - only slightly better than a permanent karaoke night. It doesn't deserve to be in our budding downtown.

It's hard to imagine that the kind of patrons that would go to a gimmicky high-concept piano bar would venture downtown for entertainment.

Maybe they're putting it here? A piano bar, a cigar bar and wood-fired pizza on the South Side

Sing Sing? Yes, I believe it is, at least last time I was in town. I have been suckered into going several times. Your description is spot on...those bars are the worst. A good bar that hosts small acoustic and/or piano acts (actual musicians) would be much better. Nobody needs another bar with two creepy middle aged guys singing Journey covers and making fun of people with wiener jokes.

Those kind of venues are probably on the way out, just like dance clubs. Young people are addicted to media and really don't venture away from their little pocket screens much. They might go out to some bar to text people while sitting next to someone also texting or looking at FaceBook. Even if you go to a concert that the young people like, they are all on their screens showing everyone in the world that they are at a concert. I don't think they even know they themselves are at a concert, but it is background noise. It is going to be interesting to see how things change as far as entertainment with the teens and twenties crowd. I am thankful not to be in that media generation.
