Apparently there are about a dozen contractors bidding to construct the new intermodal freight yard for CSX in McKees Rocks, and one of them will be selected for the project in the next month or two.

Once built, this freight yard should be a nice shot in the arm for the local "trade, transportation and utilities" job sector.

Great news for McKees Rocks, the area needs it and those should be pretty solid jobs.

Off-topic, mostly, does anyone happen to know a good place for train watching? My son loves trains and I've been looking for a place where we can sit and watch them go through regularly. Pittsburgh is awesome for this already, many of the places we go have train tracks nearby. I'm hoping to find a place that has more predictability though.

The McKees Rocks CDC was instrumental in getting this project off the ground. Our Projects | MRCDC

They are also producing the Feastival in June. Food trucks galore!
