I live near morningside and takes no more than 20 minutes when on the bus, to get to CMU/Pitt.
I'll also be a starting grad student at CMU this fall and am considering a place in Morningside... a lot of people have told me "Why not squirrel hill!?", but from what I can tell the Morningside area seems to suit me a lot better. Do you enjoy the area?

well, depending where in morninside you might find it harder to get to the buses to get to cmu. other than that, I find the area quite peaceful and morningside is more of a suburb neighborhood than sq hill within the city. I usually drive down to a nice area off negley and park there to catch the 71a/c bus line to cmu/pitt.

Thanks all. Off on my adventure tomorrow morning. Flying in early morning and have several places scheduled for showings. Also have a few places on Thursday. I will post my findings in case someone else needs the info. Looking forward to having something secure by Saturday when I'm scheduled for fly home.

The building itself is fully remodeled, very quiet and with the bus stop right in front. We have already visited the area and really do love Oakland as well! Good luck on you apartment hunt!
Thanks for the info. Will check this building out when I'm there. What program is your husband coming to?

Successful trip to Pittsburgh. Found a place in Shadyside on the shuttle route to CMU. Lesson learned - must start apartment hunting very early in the process since the inventory was very limited. The two places I had lined up for North Oakland had been rented by the time I got there. Thank you all who shared information.

Look for a place near St. Paul's Church in Oakland. Trust me, that's where you want to be.
