You should not have any problems with your degree you got. IN Pgh we have a culinary school and many graduate and got good jobs in Pgh. Downtown pgh is where most good class restaurants too.

I am sure you will find something. I do not even make what you are making much much less and lived ok in Pgh.

come on man, it's right here on this site:

Estimated median household income in 2005: $30,278 (it was $28,588 in 2000)

Pittsburgh $30,278Pennsylvania: $44,537

of course, that's based on city residents I reckon. If you look at the surrounding area, you should probably add a bit

No, no, I am not doing the culinary thing, just used as an example that I do not eat out that often (why pay 20 bucks for something that I can make for 7?) My degree is in Computer Science and the jobs I am looking at are mainly programming/database administration.

OK - here are the details of the definite possible job. Downtown in PPG Plaza, salary is approx 38k a year starting (raise in 6 - 8 months). I am looking for a 20 - 30 minute commute. Where would you guys recommend moving?

Are you looking for a house or an apartment? City or suburban lifestyle?

Describe your ideal place to live/lifestyle and we'll try to match you to it. As it is there are way too many options to mention.

Ideal place is really an outskirt with good access to 279/79 preferably. I am 27, have a girlfriend that is staying behind, so I won't be out chasing the ladies, but I do enjoy a "bar atmosphere" place to hang out, but not a club. I'm not really a big spender, but I do game and like techie toys. I want a safe, modern place, if possible.

My initial thought would be Greentree/Scott Township, but you could also look in the Dormont/Beechview area, which is close to 279, but would allow you to take the T downtown.
