Yep. All a result of lamebrained and dishonest government schemes that have blown-up in their faces.

Both parties by the way having played a HUGE part in that.

Ed Rendell's failed scheme to toll I-80 and make the NY-Chicago long haul truckers pay all our
transportation bills for us really started the dominoes tumbling.

Nah, the turnpike was terrible long before Ed Rendell

What a scam. I-80 has been toll-free for decades and now they want to tax the working man even more.

Give us the reasons a non-tolled-road is in better shape than a tolled road.

I'm more annoyed when I go to NJ and other eastern states where many roads and multiple roads and tunnels are tolls. With the exception of a few random roads, the PA turnpike is basically the only toll road people encounter when passing through PA.

If you honestly can't think of a single reason on your own, why should I believe you have the critical thinking skills to process the reasons if I explained them to you?

There's almost always a choice. It's entirely possible to avoid the turnpike for almost any destination.

unless NJ has changed, I always laughed that you got in free, but they charged the hell out of you when you left the state.

so what? I 80 was originally intended to be a toll road but the state couldn't pass up "free money" from the feds. I don't see why the "working man" shouldn't have to pay tolls ifhe's driving in the northern part of the state but he drives in the southern part he does. he's using the road far more than the average user and can pass the costs on to consumers. does the "working man" get his tires for free? 80 should absolutely be tolled and hopefully will be some day. the problem is that no one expected the feds to allow it but rendell passed a law based on it anyway. of course everyone went along because it meant they could continue to spend without raising taxes.
