My favorite burger is Burgatory's. They use better cheese than BRGR. But it's such a chain atmosphere (waiters singing "Happy Birthday," IIRC), I've never been back. The burgers at BRGR are almost as good (bland cheese), but it's such a nicer dining experience, I eat there when I want a burger. They get "rare" right, too. Winghart's is third. It's not a bad burger, though I don't like them as much as at either of the other places. Plus I feel like I should get high in order to fit in with the show the cooks put on.

my issue with burgatory is that it seems like they go out back, shoot a cow, skin it, cut a piece of beef and then cook it. Takes a about 20-40 minutes to get your food on a slowish afternoon. Unless thats how it is in this city( aka slow)

Tessaro's is still the best burger in Pittsburgh. They cook it over WOOD an you can get it med rare. Nuff said. Places like BRGR and Burgatory are more about toppings and gimmicks. I wasn't impressed with BRGR and the atmosphere is a sports bar, so there were no way to get away from the dumb TV's. Burgatory is a little better and a better atmosphere. Wingerts is about the same as far as the burgers go and it has a cool atmosphere, but they all just throw a burger on a grill, so the actual flavor isn't there, hence they have to load up the toppings to compensate.

If you want the best burger within an hour go to Slippery Rock and hit North Country. Get the farm to fork burger med rare. I love the garlic one they have. Good home-brewed beer as well.

Enjoy.

Not a big burger eater here either, but agree with Industry and I think Meat and Potatoes was better. Would recommend either.

10 burgers, two guys, one day: the quest to find the best burger in Pittsburgh

BRGR in Cranberry can't cook to the proper temperature and always undercook in my opinion. But they are nice and juicy. Probably due to undercooking.

I like Benjamin's as well. But I always come out smelling like a burger. Maybe that's a good thing.

My Brothers Place by Grove City Outlets makes an excellent burger. Brgr and Burghatory are very good.

Meat and Potatoes is real good and a nice bar. Tessaro's has to be the most overrated. Decent selection of beer and nice little bar, but that's it.

I was at my grandmas and I made my first burger. I threw lots of potato chips in it and it was awesome.

So, I'm gonna say grandmas!

My favorite burger is the Max & Erma's Tony's bodacious bacon cheeseburger. Goat cheese and bacon marmalade on their fresh ground beef. Even though I used to work there I still love their burgers best. Unfortunately you won't find them in the city since they lost the lease on the downtown location a few years back. But there are plenty of stores in the area.

like pizza, to me a burger has to taste best when its the bare essentials. in this case, a burger with cheese. ive yet to find a joint that kicks it for me. usually in va, i find the best burgers are from a bar, but thats far from the case here so far imo.
