Seems to be the start of something...

Michael Baker International moving headquarters to BNY Mellon Center - Pittsburgh Business Times

He described the need to be downtown in terms of branding, better networking with Pittsburgh's major corporations and political leadership, the ability to recruit young talent, and community relations.

Another example that shows the younger generations want to be closer to the CBDs and where the action is.

"...(He*) noted the Grant Street address will allow the company to better communicate with the city's and county's political leadership, a key factor for a company that works on as much infrastructure work as Michael Baker International..."

Hmm.

(*Dan Adamski, a managing director in the Pittsburgh office of Jones Lang LaSalle, represented Michael Baker International in its search...)

The article said MB will keep its Moon Twp office where 350 people work; about 60will be downtown. Not quite so earth-shattering when you look at it that way.

Maybe not in terms of butts in seats, but in terms of an already insanely tight class-A market, it's a big deal. They leased the top two floors of the BNY Mellon building. When I read that I had flashes of Dr. Evil's lair in my mind.

"(Kurt) Bergman (the CEO) said about 65 employees will work out of the downtown office, including the executive ranks, the leadership of the Pittsburgh office and some some other divisions to be determined, possibly architecture and water."

" “This is our headquarters. This is our home. We need to be where the action is,” said Bergman. “ "

And the work will get done in Moon Twp! Hey, I don't have a problem with this, although MB has its roots in Beaver County.
