Hi,

I'm hoping someone with longer experience with the school system here can help me. I am trying to look for a new home in the city of Pittsburgh based on school feeder patterns. Can anyone point me to a current map of the feeder neighborhoods for city schools?

I know that these have shifted over the past few years with closings -- the district used to post a map and a street directory on their website, but those seem to have been replaced with a "Find Your School" tool that only allows a search for one address at a time. Before using that to construct a map of my own, I figured I'd check here...

Alternately, if anyone knows the current boundaries of the Colfax and Allderdice feeders, that would also be a huge help.

Thanks in advance!

The city posted a map a few years back, but they've since scrubbed it, possibly due to minor changes.

My understanding is the Colfax K-12 pattern is as follows (roughly).

1. East Liberty south of Penn Avenue
2. All of Shadyside
3. Squirrel Hill including (roughly) all areas north of the Squirrel Hill tunnel
4. Point Breeze/Point Breeze North west of Dallas
5. Some random bits and bobs in Greater Homewood most people wouldn't want to buy a house in

The southern boundary (between Colfax and Minadeo) is the area I'm haziest on. If you find a particular house in this area you're interested in, you can post the address on the discover PPS website, and it will tell you the neighborhood school.

Thanks! This is very helpful. I don't understand why they pulled the street directory and map -- it was really useful.

Although the OP's question is answered. Is there a 2014-15 link to the Highschool pattern. I know a lot of kids from Garfield/East Lib attend Westinghouse although in the post Langly/Oliver map it stated that Garfield and East Liberty were supposed to feed into U-Prep.

Unless it changed this year, Garfield should all feed to U-Prep. East Liberty is actually divided, IIRC, with the small area west of Negley feeding to U-Prep, the portion south of Penn feeding to Allderdice, and the remainder feeding to Westinghouse.
