I do use the card, and donate all my fuel perks to family (they have a copy of my card). I wish you can donate it to a charity.

So I am not entirely sure what Enough_Already meant about explaning fuel perks. I assume s/he meant they really do not pay for themselves. Well, there is a low tipping point at which you CAN take advantage of these points without spending more there than you need to, vs. Aldi's or Shop N Save.
My point is most people think Fuelperks represent a much large discount that they actually do.

I strongly disagree with this comment. I find most Aldi products to be on par with national brands and I know many other people who feel that way as well.

I already know the answer. It is obvious. I do go to Giant Eagle for one thing and while walking through the store I get sticker shock. I am not the media.

One good way to use fuel perks would be to buy gift cards for other stores you plan at shopping or places you'll go out to eat and earn the fuel perks that way without paying for the food price surcharge. That way, you can have your cake and eat it too.

One story from one media outlet which probably lasted 30 seconds. Where are the all the other media outlets? That story used a small number of items and does little to quantify the real difference. They will do stories that involve $100 over and over when this one could save people in the area hundreds of millions.

My guess is most people know which store has the best prices. But sometimes convenience takes precedence. There's a little Mom @ Pop store I stop at every now and then. I know I pay more but it's right on the way home. It's not always about price.

How does Giant Eagle pay its employees. Living in the East End, my grocery shopping is pretty evenly split between Giant Eagle, Aldi and Trader Joes, with the occasional visit to Whole Foods and Costco. Costco, Aldi, TJ and WF all pay their employees at least $11/hr. I don't know anything about Giant Eagle, but I KNOW Wal-Mart pays minimum wage. I'd rather pay a couple extra bucks to support a company that pays its people well.

Concur. For example, Aldi and GE sell the same brand of pears that come in a bag. The bag was $3.00 at Aldi and nearly twice as much at GE. Aldi FTW.

Which they only agreed to do after more than three years of sustained campaigning and labor organizing by OUR Walmart.
