Brits and Southerners should come with Closed Captioning.

I've always found Boston accents to be the worst personally.

There's no such thing as "Pittsburghese". "N'nat", "Dem", "Haase", "Yinz", and all of the other slang words that Pittsburghers love to think are confined to this area, aren't. The reality is that you'll hear those words and phrases all up and down the spine of the northern Appalachians. There is a Pittsburgh dialect however, but I don't know why anyone would actually want to speak like that or hold dear the fact that they do. It's not pleasing to the ear at all. It sounds like a goose attempting to speak English.

We were in Nashville with British friends. Brits couldn't understand the Southeners. We had to interpret for them.

Copy that.

I love the old films from England, but think they should come with subtitles. Likewise with all the Irish films.

We always use the closed captioning when watching British/Irish movies and TV shows.

Yeah. That's almost as bad as Glaswegian.

Traveler's Tip: NEVER buy a Glaswegian a pint at a pub. They won't stop talking and will follow you around like a stray cat.

Grew up in Tallahassee and love the accent in that city. It's almost like a softer, educated version of the general deep-south accent. Not sure why it is in the contest as opposed to other southern cities in Alabama and Mississippi.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Baltimore. The accents (Pittsburgh and Baltimore) are so similar. Would anyone agree all this is dying out, anyway?

Also, did you hear a real Rhode Islander speak? WOW! Very cool.....and i think there are islands off the coast of North Carolina where their local accent is very noticeably british influenced!

EDIT - i quoted above because of Jan Hooks, possibly the most underrated SNL alum. I thought she was canadian, actually (she was in a candian sitcom a few years before getting movies here in the US).

Little in life is as unpleasant as the sounds that come out of Louie Gohmert's mouth.
