I thought it was outrageous paying $10 to see the Stones in 1975 at Cleveland Stadium. Did it anyhow.

Jane's Addiction - I think it was 2003. I was living elsewhere but came in to see this concert at the Civic Arena.

It was very...erotic. Near nudity (for the sake of art), colored lights, decent acoustics, lots of energy from the band.

My punk rock salad days were spent in firehalls and weird-ass performance spaces in the Harrisburg area, and in shady bars and asbestos-filled basements in Philadelphia. Most of the shows I've been too since moving out here have been surprisingly legit. But I've seen a few good ones:

Shonen Knife @ 31st Street Pub (they've played three shows there in like four years and that is the GREATEST THING EVER, I WOULD SEE THEM EVERYDAY IF COULD....)

Screaming Females @ Roboto (would've shook off a dozen years of slam dancing rust if my back had been feeling better)

The Julie Ruin (and Screaming Females) @ Mr. Smalls (only time I've seen Kathleen Hanna perform, and I've been trying to steal her dance moves ever since)

Gaslight Anthem @ Mr. Smalls (too much chatting, not enough singing from the college kids in the crowd, but a great show regardless)

Yo La Tango @ Hartwood Acres and @ Mr. Smalls (two very different sets for two very different settings... such a versatile band)

Jonathan Richman @ Three Rivers Arts Fest (with like 20 librarians... librarians love Jonathan Richman)

I still kick myself for not coming out to TRAF when Sonic Youth played it back in 2003. And missing Tom Verlaine the year he played. Ce la vie...

That's it, I'm officially old. Never heard of ANY of those groups mentioned.

My wife and I took in B.E. Taylor's Christmas Concert last night. First time for me, he was pretty good along with some Pgh locals. Herm Granatti from the old G-Force, the guy that sings at Penguins games. and Rick Witkowski, who was pretty damn talented and funny.
