No, it isn't. I linked to the city neighborhoods map in post #3. Take a look.

Glad I moved from Bloomfield to east liberty to avoid those problems. Wish I was able to afford Shadyside like CFP.

/sarcasm

Op has an agenda against east liberty doing well.

Op has an agenda against east liberty doing well.
op works in east liberty in the medical center east building
and would be the first one to celebrate east liberty becoming a normal neighborhood
with a normal restaurant that serves breakfast for example

having anthom's open for 2 hours a day, vento's selling breakfast sandwiches and two mcdonalds doesn't cut it

op's agenda is calling attention to the reality of the neighborhood
so that all the profit-oriented hype spewed by developers isn't mistaken for the truth,
which is that the neighborhood needs a lot more work, both private and public

maybe the new dollar tree opening on penn will serve breakfast, for a dollar!

[quote=CFP;37784881]as 2014 comes to a close, gangsta culture is alive and well in east liberty

3 Injured In East Liberty Shooting

3 Injured In East Liberty Shooting « CBS Pittsburgh

KDKA doesn't know what they're talking about. That is clearly Bloomfield, as ditchdigger has pointed out with the Pittsburgh maps, it's not even adjacent to East Liberty. In addition, if you look at the photo on the story, it even SAYS Bloomfield on the street sign.

Pinning this on East Liberty is ridiculous, but unfortunately anything bad that happens in the East End frequently gets blamed on East Liberty.

sometimes on these threads it's helpful to break things down in extremely simple terms

1. technically, according to official maps, the shooting occurred in bloomfield

2. the shooting, as it is described in the article, has all the hallmarks of gang-related violence

3. bloomfield borders friendship which borders east liberty, a neighborhood known to have gang-related violence

4. one possibility is there are violent gangs operating in bloomfield which have remained unknown until now

5. the other possibility is, because both assailants were traveling in vehicles, their dispute originated in east liberty
and didn't get violent until they traveled in their vehicles a few blocks down baum boulevard

6. if your agenda is putting a positive spin on all east liberty related news to protect your investment and maximize profits,
then go with the bloomfield gang explanation and demand kdka print a correction to their story

7. if your agenda is trying to understand and communicate what is real and logical,
then go with the traveling east liberty gang explanation

Normally I'm a pretty big critic of your posts but I think you're clearly on to something here with the "Traveling East Liberty Gang" hypothesis, especially if you're willing to overlook the annoyingly obvious fact that, using your "logic" you can come to the same conclusion regardless of whatever set of facts are presented.

I mean, now that the East Liberty gangs have access to cars, virtually any crime in the City can "logically" be attributed to them. Do thugs from the other parts of the City, Homewood, North Side, etc. also travel? They must not, since this would complicate your model.

Here's a map of every neighborhood which borders East Liberty, or which borders a neighborhood which borders East Liberty. I guess we can blame essentially all crime in the East End to East Liberty.

While it's certainly possible, it's unsound reasoning to limit the possibilities to one other, as implied by your use of "the". How about the possibility that the dispute originated in The Hill District? How about Garfield? Maybe they started shooting out in Homewood, and had a cease fire until they were clear of East Liberty?

A question for you--If KDKA had gotten the neighborhood right, would this thread exist?

based on the city-data hype, zone 5, especially east liberty, is one of the safest areas in the city,
or at the very least as safe as any other area

and those drive-by shooters from last night down the street from penn circle
were probably from sewickley, fox chapel or upper st clair where drive-by shootings are commonplace

it's no wonder why upscale stores like dollar tree are rushing to secure a storefront in east liberty
what yuppie retailer wouldn't want to be there

it's possible to speculate that the only reason pamela's and eat'n park aren't there yet to serve breakfast
and make a nice profit doing so is because they're most likely locked in a bidding war
over the last remaining storefront location
