Similar enough, your winter gear from New York should be sufficient the vast majority of the time.

Our temperatures, however, can go below 0 a lot more often as we don't have the moderation of the ocean here. You might want to make sure you have enough thermal underwear, if we get a spell of 0 weather.

You can view annual/monthly weather for cities on weather.com.
What made you decide upon Pittsburgh/Cranberry for relocation?

We have been searching many areas for the past year. My neighbor is from Pittsburg and had mentioned to me that is a little hidden gem. She thought my family and I would love the city and suburbs there . I started to look and research and here we are. My husband wants to visit North Carolina , he's been to South Carolina , and Georgia( too hot) I happen to love the four seasons and winter is my favorite so I'd like to relocate to four seasons. My kids love to ski and also love summer! Most of my family is in New York so it will be a 6 hour car ride, which to me is nothing . It seems everyone who lives in pitsburg really loves it there. I'd still like to hear any positives and negatives as I am going in to this blind folded.

4 seasons here? That's a matter of opinion. In the not so distant future the plan is to be snowbirds. It will be at least 4 months South unless Spring decides to come early/on time. Summers here are short. If North Carolina is one of your options, I would look hard into there for what you're describing.

We got the same feedback from an old Pittsburgher who lives in Brooklyn now, and friends that live in Cleveland. We did look at NC, but that fell thru and lucky it did cos what we achieved here, we could not have done in NC.

It is a little hidden gem. Schools are fantastic. People are very nice although some can be cliquy, but you get that everywhere/

If weather is a big factor in moving, New York to Pa. is all but a lateral move.
