Hello - I am looking to relocate from a busy semi-urban area of Pittsburgh to a quiet, calm area with great schools. I'd like the schools to have teachers/administrators that demonstrate respect, integrity and trust consistently, accompanied by a community/local leaders that generally demonstrate the same sorts of values. I was attracted to Quaker Valley Schools because there appears to be lots of green space, a walkable town, and the schools appear to recognize and provide stimulation for advanced students. I am looking for input as to whether my impression of the area is relatively accurate. Thanks very much!

Your impression is very accurate, in fact I don't think that you could find another area in the Pittsburgh region that better meets your criteria. If living in a walkable community is important to you, then you should confine your search to Sewickley Borough, Edgeworth, Osborne, and Leetsdale. All of these places are in the Quaker Valley SD.

Leetsdale is the poor river borough in the district. The population of Leetsdale is tiny (1,218), which is probably why it doesn't negatively affect the school district rankings the same way Sharpsburg does for Fox Chapel.

The area right around the high school in Leetsdale seems okay, but I wouldn't call anything in the borough walkable, unless you consider walking to an industrial park a big deal. Really if you want walkable Sewickley Borough is the only real choice around there.

When we were looking to buy here, we visited Quaker Valley school and loved it. We ended up not living there, but we play against them in Football and the feeling is the same ; it is still a great school district
