I have yet to meet a person that was gleeful about the closing of Saks. I was saddened but at the same time Saks refused to change the demographic that they catered to. All the older clientele started dying off in the early 2000s and Saks did not keep up with the times. The downtown store did not carry a wide variety of casual mens Prada, Yves St Laurent, LV, and Gucci shoes until the last year or two. Once Nordstrom and the other upscale stores opened up in Ross Park I knew it was a matter of time before Saks closed.

Saks has been closing stores across the country for several years: Dallas, Denver, Portland, San Diego, Minneapolis, and probably a few I don't remember. They really hadn't kept up with the times and the more leisurely way people dress today. Nordstrom sells a lot of the same stuff in a more modern environment and has a lot of younger customers.

Glad for Ross Park to snag another high-end store. I had no idea what it was, but I don't usually wear womens' clothes.

The big advantage to Ross Park Mall is the Apple store.

I'm also glad they have a Stickley showroom.

Outside of that ... meh.

Stickley Audi closed their Ross and Greensburg stores a while back. Sad, but true.

I think he was talking about the Stickley furniture store which is on the Mall parking lot outskirts.

So was Kippy. Stickley Audi is not a car dealer. And they closed in late 2013.

Dang...we must have gone in shortly before they closed. I loved their stuff although it was not in my price range. I leave Allegheny county and it falls apart

You can still certainly buy it and have it shipped to any address in the U.S.

maybe someday all of these "upscale" places will move to downtown and to the urban neighborhoods surrounding it. now that would be exciting.

Sure, but until then, it's good that they can be found somewhere in the Pittsburgh area, especially considering many people used to cite a lack of upscale shopping as a reason why Pittsburgh was inferior to "other cities" back in the early 2000s. (Anybody who remembers the old PittsburghLIVE forums knows exactly what I'm talking about.)
