And lost that respect faster than he gained it.

Joepa knew what was going on long before the age of 83. It's only too bad he wasn't put on the stand to have proven it.

Had the scandal taken place in say, FSU, you'd be saying the same thing about Bowden, that most everybody in the nation is saying about Joepa.

At one time I was a big PSU fan, but there's no denying the truth that the football program turned out to be a disgrace.

Scandals come and go, and PSU has already regained it's national prominence in academic and athletic excellence in most people's eyes.

OTOH, most Pitt graduates I meet seem to be the laziest and shadiest folks anywhere. I do meet a few nice ones, but even you would admit they all seem to harbor jealousy of PSU at some level. Probably because they couldn't get into University Park with their high school transcript so they had to settle for Pitt or Slippery Rock.

Bowden has vigorously defended JoePa and wants the statue re-erected as much as any PSU alumni.

I'll take his opinion of Paterno's character over any Pitt grad, that's fer sure.

Except Pitt is harder to get into:

Pitt vs. PSU
HS GPAs >3.75: 74%/35%
Middle 50% M + CR SAT Scores: 1180-1360/1090-1290
Top 10% HS Class Rank: 54%/40%

It's very clear what the OP is doing (and he deserves credit for riling people up despite his transparency), but now that I've left the relevant data, yinz feel free to carry on, 'n at.

Bowden defending Paterno has nothing to do with how you'd be talking if the shoe was on Bowden/FSU's foot.

Who's the Pitt grad you speak of?

LOL, any idiot who actually knows how the PSU branch campus system works will understand why you can skew the data to favor Pitt.

I won't even dignify your post with showing REAL data about PSU Univ. Park admission criteria compared to Pitt's main campus. It wouldn't even be a contest. I've seen Pitt students transfer to PSU's engineering programs and be forced to drop out after 1 or 2 semesters. Can't hang with the Big Boys.

Given that the vast majority of people (whom have no association to Pitt) find Paterno's character garbage in the matter & the cult of personality at PSU that enabled multiple children to be raped for numerous years, I would hope that PSU did some atoning to help their tarnished image.

Those are the numbers for University Park (collegeboard separates the data by campus), but thanks for playing!

Pro-tip: statistics for admitted students, which most colleges put on their websites to make themselves look more selective than they actually are, won't cut it.

I've worked with a fair number of Pitt grads in the past 25 years.

Even a wolf has to prowl his way amongst the lambs.

Funny stuff. Perhaps when the Paterno supporters come to the realization they need to let go of Joepa and accept he's thankfully gone, PSU football may regain its significance.

You should check out pantherlair if you haven't already. Some very funny football threads, there.
