I did attend Reizenstein Middle School from 1986-1989. I alway knew that Reizenstein located at 129 Denniston Ave was considered Shadyside. Wholefoods and Kelly's are definately East Liberty. I never heard anyone refer to either as Shadyside.

They're both in Shadyside.

I was wondering about where Shadyside ends recently... the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts says they are located in Shadyside even though the big blue street sign at Shady/5th says Point Breeze on it.

Going along with this "census tract" nonsense, almost everyone would consider the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, which is on Liberty Avenue near 30th Street, to be the Strip District; however, because it's on the south side of Liberty, it's considered officially to be Polish Hill. Crazy, eh?

Granted, I'm new to the area, but I thought Centre Ave, not the tracks/busway was the line of demarcation. Whole Foods is in Shadyside, but the AAA building is in East Liberty.

Neighborhood lines are often a fluid situation, depending on the needs of realtors.

In the 90's, the "Shadyside area" extended into and past the Friendship area, I saw properties as far north as Dearborn St. being described as in the Shadyside area.

Parts of Greenfield and Hazelwood have been annexed to Squirrel Hill by the realtors, parts of the Hill to town or Oakland.

Its part of the ongoing effort to make their properties more marketable

Whole Foods is located on the former site of Instant Car Wash and the Yellow cab facility. There was also surface parking meters at Centre and Highland. That area was and is considered East Liberty. The railroad tracks are the dividing line. The area further up Center near The Lofts building can be argued either way.

Pittsburgh Neighborhoods

Pittsburgh Wards

Pittsburgh Public School Board Districts

Pittsburgh Zip Code Map

I wish there was a way to overlay all of them, but I don't think that is something I can teach myself today, I am too busy.

It's pretty funny that on the first map, the original map's markings for Point Breeze and East Liberty both lie within the city's boundaries for Shadyside.
