This is exactly the thinking everyone decries here. A 'yinzer' could very well be a nice person people. How many here who say how unfriendly this place is actually ARE that friendly person?

I have tried some online apps but most men came off as creepy. Can anyone offer some advice on how the dating scene is here? I have read in the past that it is pretty bad but would like to know how it has evolved. Also, are there any suggestions to meeting new people (not just dating wise but friend wise as well). Any help would be appreciated.
Men are visual beings. If you are looking to date you should simply get your hair and nails done and spend some money on a nice pair of heels. Men notice women that are into themselves. Choose your seen and make sure you are the best that you can be. Looks do matter. Its that simple.

And yet I never had any problems in the saying department when I was single and I've been happily married for 15 years without doing any of that. Lots of guys dig ladies who are fully comfortable just being themselves.

(One thing I've never been able to figure out: am i a yinzer or out of towner if I've lived here my whole life but my parents aren't from here? And does that mean I'm mean or friendly?)

Oh, it sounds like you are a yinzer alright and therefore very unfriendly.

I have never worn high heels in my life and I have never had trouble attracting fellows.

No city is broadly 'friendly' or 'unfriendly'. If you feel like everyone is unfriendly you should really examine what you are putting out there.

I do think that once you leave college (or grad school) it gets harder to meet people because everyone gets spread out, doing their own thing.

^^^^ this, plus the exuberance to meet new people, that innate curiosity, pretty much dies after the college years. And, a big part is what someone puts IN to their situation. "It's what you make of it".

Ive been happily married for almost 17 years. My wife and I made a commitment to maintain our appearance no matter what. My wife is apalled by couples that wear matching outfits. T shirts, sports jerseys and beat up shoes are never acceptable for women....or men for that matter.

Should I have said "you're not the boss of me" instead?
