Not sure that is accurate. Urban Planning really took off well after the first Renaissance in this town - it became a well-respected science moreso in the very late 1960s, if not later. Prior to that, city leaders planned on their own.

And, planners definitely did NOT "destroy" the Hill District.

Why is this topic in the Pittsburgh thread? The Pittsburgh metro area is quite compact compared to other metro areas.

Moderator cut: I honestly don't know why. But since a similar topic already exists in Urban planning, I'm closing this one. And I'm making an edit instead of a post not to pointlessly bump it back up. Yac.
