By lower class white , I mean the whole white ghetto thing . Or white trash if you will , though that word is offensive to many . Pittsburgh is supposed to be full of neighborhoods like that . Or so I've heard .

Most white people in Pittsburgh bite. True story. Don't believe anybody who tells you differently.

Yes, the whole Pittsburgh region is like that. Might as well stay where you are.

Ah come on there's no need for a sarcastic response . I'm not some snotty teenage suburban kid who looks down on lower class white people . Of course you can think that , but that ain't the truth .

I know some nice people who live in The Run. There are also some really miserable and depressed folks who live there. So I'd say it is a mix.

You are pretty close to a bus stop for the 58, which will take you to Downtown or Oakland relatively quickly.

You are very close to the bike trail that goes to downtown, the southside, waterfront , and more places pretty quickly.

I think the area has been a target for some beneficiation projects, although I have heard that some people complain when beauty attempts are made, i.e. planting more trees. I'm guessing the same miserable folks who once wrote a note on my parked car there are the same miserable people who complain about making the green space there look nicer.

What was said about the WV holler town feel seem correct.

I think this area has a TON of potential if urban planning was ever used effectively here. Is it close to some tracks that could take one to Oakland and Lawrenceville quickly if they were ever used for public transit. It is close to Schenley Park. It is close to 376.

Its 3/4 of a mile from Greenfield Ave. all the way back into the run, that's really not that close.

I don't think there are any city steps that will take you up out of there to Greenfield Ave up above, you'd have to go out to where the Pgh. Transportation Greenfield garage was, back in the day.

There might be city steps from south Oakland down to there, Warhol complained about having to walk to the church in the run as a kid from Dawson or Parkview.

Seems like it would be pretty noisy down there with the Parkway above. I rejected a house a few years ago on Henderson on the North Side because the noise from 279 was a bit much and this is a lot closer.

There's steps to Greenfield Avenue. The set that used to come out closer to St. Rosilia are closed but another set is still open.

You can get to Oakland on steps or sidewalks.
