I can't afford the type of retail that is downtown... Macy's fit the niche well... a step up from Burlington but not as ridiculous as Brooks Brothers/Larrimors ..

I don't want more super expensive places and I don't want Marshalls or TJ Maxx...

Can they just open another Macys ...

I bought a pair of pants for $27 from Brooks Brothers the other day. It's upscale, but not always prohibitively expensive.

Brooks Brothers, Heinz Healey, and Jos Bank are good quality and not outrageously expensive, especially during sales. Larrimor's is definitely higher end, but their customer service is extraordinary. I took a suit back after having it ten years and they repaired and altered it for free. Their clothes last forever.

And what about us gals? $144 for a plain t-shirt (Larrimor's) is not reasonable. The cheapest purse on the Brooks Bros site is +$500.
Jos A Bank doesn't sell women's clothing any more, and Heinz Healey never did.

Why do you continually attempt to build a strawman by suggesting that I said it should be free. I didn't.

No, parking downtown is supposed to be free, suburbanites just have to wave their gold suburbs card.

It's as if there's no such thing as buying items on the Internet . . .

As I mentioned before, it is not easy to determine the size or quality of a handbag from the internet.
And speaking of sizing, it's funny how brand A women's dress in size 12 are not the same size as Brand B.

So, what should I do? Buy four dresses online, try them on, send back the three that don't fit even though they are the same size, and pay for return shipping?

Internet shopping.

I won't/don't buy clothes off the internet... Everything fits different... and sometimes things look better in print or on the web than they do in pictures...
