Well, the books are in German, and I knew he wouldn't be able to replace them in the US. The CDs are mostly classical, but also stuff that isn't available online. And let me tell you about the LPs! And his nice German stereo!

If it's a local move, I have used Steel City Movers and had a good experience with them. If it's out of state, I'd have to look up the name of the company I used when I moved here from CA, but they were good. I have two other friends who used the same company and were quite happy with their services - which seems to mean that my experience wasn't a fluke.

I went with James Moving; they were the best/most thorough quote (and didn't up charge me for having a pool table like some of the others).
Thanks for the advice, I got quotes from each one, they just worked out best.
Will report my actual experience in 2 weeks.

And don't worry I have a lot of books to move too (no cd's though).

I've had a good experience with Movin' Murdy.

Several years ago, terrible experience with Sigmund Transfer.

Opening an Angie's List account to read people's reviews is a good idea.
