The Kennametal Choice of HQ City is a huge competition for Pittsburgh (university)

Certainly not a given is Kennametal staying in downtown Pittsburgh or the immediate region for that matter.
With corporate desires of a urban setting, airport access to the nation and world, attractive location for the
development of a signature corporate headquarters, and closeness to world class university and education, several extended regional cities are in the competition for attracting Kennametal.Charlotte and Cleveland are in the running and will offer very competitive options to Pittsburgh.
Certainly this is the mayor's first real challenge as corporate relocation goes. And loosing such a company to Charlotte would be a real stinger. Pittsburgh was able to hold of Charlotte to the Westinghouse Nuclear bid. And comparing airport access to world markets is certainly not Pittsburgh's strength. Here's to our world class level of university education and the willingness of the local industrial company to stay local! We need them!
