About 30 minutes in the morning, and about 40-50 on the way home (East --> downtown and back)

I used to commute from near Apollo to Downtown for three years. That was hell. It was roughly an hour. Throw in any sort of disruption, you're looking at 90+ minutes easy. I moved into the city in 2011 and haven't looked back. Having a long commute is just not worth it for me personally. I'd rather eliminate that stress and get my time back. ... Granted, living now 3 miles from Downtown, I've still had some nasty commutes believe it or not. One thing goes wrong at the West End Circle and look out--we're stuck, especially since West Carson is still a mess and isn't a great alternative to Steuben. My record worst commute time for my 3 mile journey from Downtown to the West End was not all that long ago. Almost 90 full minutes! I believe a pedestrian was struck in the West End Circle which paralyzed traffic for quite some time. While I was glad I was not the unfortunate person struck, 90 minutes to go 3 miles is a bit extreme!

I'm always interested in knowing how many "extreme commuters" we have in Western PA. The CFO at a pervious job of mine used to commute in from Ligonier. That's insane. I also know of a few folks that commute to Moon from Youngstown, OH. That isn't terrible because it's all highway driving and no congestion...just a ton of gas money along with wear and tear.

About 30 minutes, including the drive and the 10-minute walk from the parking lot. Public transportation can be about 45 minutes to an hour, including the transfer from T to bus and the walk to the office.

I can get to my parking lot fairly quickly (under a half hour) from the burbs but my lot isn't close to my office building. Working downtown is tough because your lot/garage isn't always that close to your place of employment.

When I lived in Shadyside my commute via car was about a half hour. Getting through Oakland was brutal.

15 minutes via car, 25-30 via bicycle, half hour via bus. I will not increase my commute to an hour or more, been there and will never go back to that insanity.

15 to 20 minutes by car to Downtown, about a half hour maybe even longer some days if I take the bus.

Agreed! I used to work from home four, sometimes five days a week. A management change put a wrench in that. Now I do two days a week and I greatly appreciate that beyond words. Just eliminating the commute time on both ends of the day is great. Also, when I'm home, I'm not thinking, "I HAVE to leave at {insert time} to have a chance at getting home at {insert time.}" I find myself doing much less clock watching while at home. It definitely eliminates a ton of hassle.

Just curious, does anyone here who does it have issues focusing while working from home? I am about to for the first time in a couple and while I'm certainly looking forward to not having a commute for one day, it will be a little different than going to the office.
