Sports teams should stick to sports and winning championships, not developing lots that they'd probably prefer to keep as parking as long as possible.

Agreed. Pens are working on doing that. Please tell the Bucs.

Pretty sure the Hill District was a big part of the delay/s.

From the article, it appears there are environmental concerns from pre-Civic Arena. With how many lots that space used to be, dealing with whatever sort of Title Insurance was issued when they acquired the land is going to be a huge paperwork mountain that won't be resolved quickly.

Most every non Pens fan wants to blame them but I'm pretty sure there have been issues with multiple groups on what will get the seal of approval.

Interesting that contaminated land isn't seen as an issue. I expect construction had been started long ago had it not been for those in the Hill District having issue with initial plans.

Maybe they'll charge forward and forget about all of the demands from the Hill... then Pedutohead will complain about that

Bingo.

I recall the city dragging its feet about CEC when it was promised. I expect a little returning of the favor may have a small play in the dealio, especially since initial plans for construction have been met with an unfavorable attitude.

I will give the Pens a break with the U.S. Steel issues. However, it is telling that every other story on this board is about ongoing retail and residential development in Lawrenceville, the North Shore, Strip District, and Golden Triangle, etc. etc. You can't walk around in Downtown without running into a construction site. Yet, here sits a gigantic parcel in a prime location with nothing happening. Civic Arena closed almost six years ago now and was torn down more than 4 years ago. You're telling me that they can start building a $43.2 million apartment complex in Castle Shannon of all places and can't get anyone interested in this site? Come on now.
