Will be moving to the Pittsburgh area beginning of July for a new job in McMurray. Would like to stay close to that area. We are looking for a nice, safe area, 1BR apt., accepts 1 cat. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

McMurray would be fine - if anyone could recommend the name of the apartment(s) then we could into this further. Since we are currently out of state, it is not that easy to evaluate the area and the apartments in the area.

What full force ghetto is 20 minutes from there? Clairton is a 30-minute drive, which I think is the closest ghetto area.

I just drove it, it took me 21 minutes to get from the projects to fiori pizza to get my late lunch on my way home

Not sure what your budget is, but look at any of the newer apartment complexes in Southpointe, which is less than 10 minutes from McMurray. The newest building (1400 Main?) has amenities that will match anything that you could find in the city proper.

Also, depending on what your definition of "close" is, you could probably swing living in the South Side or Mount Washington and get down to McMurray in 30 minutes or so. That would put you much closer to the city center, and the apartment stock in the city is likely much larger than what you'll find once you venture further away.

The apartments in south point are hurting, I think you can negotiate the price with them, I remember reading something in the local paper. They were counting on the oil boom that disappeared
