They tell untold stories within the stories everyone knows. They also counter well-accepted notions. That last part you are uncomfortable with.

Lucky for them they didn't move their fight into the street whilst I was delivering or else they'd have been subjected to me laying on the horn until they moved it back to the sidewalk.
