I think my bat signal will be a man from Fox Chapel drinking whiskey on a yacht.

Not much to say about this really. So someone lied a little on his resume and got hired. The PPS seems to want to keep him, so maybe he will do a good job. I don't think it is a good message to the students that if you lie on a resume you can land a high paying powerful job, but I guess that is the real world we live in? Maybe all this is being made up to create a story and the media is creating something out of nothing? Hard to say these days since the media is really unreliable on all levels.

Whatever happens I hope the PPS keeps improving. Maybe someday it will be a district residents can be proud of. I wish them the best. A good school is very important for growth, but I am not sure how many young folks will have kids, so there is that.

Hamlet appears to have support of school board | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Quote:
Six or seven members of the nine-member board Tuesday were leaning toward keeping Mr. Hamlet, according to people familiar with the situation.
We'll see what the vote, and most importantly, the report will bring. Not that I'm overly concerned with the well being of PPS (and I shouldn't be), but this is just a little embarrassing for the region.

What a joke.. I'm glad I can just bemusedly shake my head at it from my side of the river - if my son were a PPS student I'd be fuming. Yet another reason I have no interest in living within City limits.

Well, I think that seals the deal. I live in the City and will be moving somewhere else by the time any kids are ready for school. A complete joke.

Why do "six or seven" of the nine on the school board support Hamlet, though? I want those who are defending him to defend themselves, too.

They don't have to defend themselves. No accountability.

"The Pittsburgh Public Schools board rejected a motion to rescind its contract with recently hired Superintendent Anthony Hamlet.

The Florida educator has been embroiled in a debate over his suitability after questions arose about whether he may have intentionally embellished his record or plagiarized his “educational philosophy” in his resume.

Board member Terry Kennedy made a motion to rescind Hamlet's contract and it was seconded by Lynda Wrenn, but the nine-member board voted it down 7-2 at its meeting Wednesday.

Hamlet will begin work Friday. He takes over upon the retirement of Superintendent Linda Lane."
