I lived there from 2004 through 2011 and liked the place. I liked it well enough that I'm thinking of moving back, now that I'm retired. Has it changed much since I left in 2011? Looking forward to anyone and everyone's thoughts. This is a Flickr link to a photo of a home on Pennsylvania Avenue, downtown near the post office:

I've known the city most of my life and have worked there the past several years. There hasn't been much change, you only left a short while ago. Not sure there's really been any change at all. You'll find Route 30 is still the same old traffic nightmare at rush hour as it always was, the outlying towns like Jeanette are still where most problems are concentrated. Areas you enjoyed then should still be just as enjoyable now, same for areas you were smart enough to stay away from. The Palace still has a nice selection of programs throughout the year.

Go on, come back and welcome to you if you do!

Seton Hill has expanded and has more of a presence in town.
There are new restaurants like Bean and Baguette.
The Westmoreland Museum of American Art just finished a major expansion project.

Things ARE changing, and for the better!

Thanks, Bazzwell and Pitt Chick. Good feedback. Flickr photo link didn't work before -- trying again. I miss seeing the older architecture.

While I would agree that things are changing for the better...

Seton Hill has expanded immensily ( even in last 5 years) and shows no sign of slowing down. While does bring in new shops, resturants, culture ( hopefully ) Will also bring in a influx of college age children and some residents do not seem to enjoy this. While I cannot imagine it ever becoming a "Party School" kids will be kids and those issues arise.

Rent has been on the incline and more conversions of houses are going for student housins. ( basically choped together cheap aparments.) SO for a retired man having a younger active demographic might not be the Greesnburgh searching for..having said that Greensburg is still Greensburg...
