According to KDKA, Levitske Bros. have finally decided to develop the eyesores along Rt. 51.

FINALLY!!! (I'll see it when I believe it!)

No internet link to the story yet.

I'll believe it when I see it too! Funny thing is that I didn't realize how terrible it was until I was away for a year. When I came back to visit it looked like they had signs on every building along there. It would be wonderful if they would do something but I know that people do not like to deal with them, so they'll have to sell alot of the property in order for it to be made into something.

Folks have tried to spur Route 51/Levitske Bros. properties development for YEARS. At least ten, likely more. I'm in the same camp; I'll believe it when I see it. But in the meantime, I MORE than welcome it!!!

What on earth would they use for those spaces anyway? The parking is bad too.

Here is a link to the kdka tv news story

I hope they do something drastic. Continuing the Brentwood Towne Square model down 51 would be great. Maybe some upscale condos too. I think renovating the existing buildings would be a bit of a stopgap. The old Brentwood-Whitehall shops that were knocked down for the BTS were in much better shape 10 years ago than these Levitske properties.

Figures. Now that I'm probably moving to some other part of the city...
Oh well.

Here's an article about South Hills Route 51 development. It mentions plans to build an Applebee's and Sonic Drive-In in on Levitske property in Brentwood.

This is great news. I'm closing on a house in Brentwood next month. The more businesses they put in that area the better. One of the reasons I was even searching in Brentwood was the new Town Square. Hopefully they can add a lot of new restaurants, bars, and retail stores on 51 now.
