Seriously. Coming from anyone but you this illicits an eye roll.

Concertgoers can trash a neighborhood, but mostly peaceful protesters need to be approached with riot gear and excessive force?

Get out.

I know quite a few officers, and most are upstanding---not racist, not quick to anger, and possessing a great deal of compassion. The new contract for the police union is an absolute joke and is actually a pay cut when you compare a 1% annual raise with associated inflation and higher health insurance contributions.

This is not really any different of any other occupation, only no one else is given a pulpit from which to do their crying.

The thin skinned description is apt. Its troubling that people who are so sensitive and intolerant of review are in positions of authority.

Don't recall a parking lot that gets cleaned up after every event being a trashed neighborhood.

Don't recall saying peaceful protesters, either.

I get it can be a waste of resources for the police if you're constantly calling to get your cat out of the tree or something but the crimes they list are a perplexing mix.

Domestic abuse advocates should be particularly dismayed.

Yeah, the "garden gnome" example is priceless.

Sounds like they assume people are going to learn how to behave themselves and work out their differences on their own. It's a great concept but highly doubtful it's going to work out. Guess they won't be monitoring the smokers at MS.

Two review boards have apparently reached opposite conclusions on whether Pittsburgh police Chief Cameron McLay's appearance at the Democratic National Convention was political and, therefore, a violation of city code.

The Telephone Reporting Unit has been around for YEARS. For some reason Darlene Harris just found out it existed now. She's squawking about it since Chief McLay wants to push more calls into it to free up cops to play hopscotch with people.

The unit has been around yes, the policy of forcing people calling about certain crimes (some of which I would rank as serious in nature) to use the telephone reporting in leui of having an officer respond is the new policy that is in question.
