My thoughts: When SSW first opened, I believe a lot of the stores were the first in the area. H&M, Forever 21, BCBG, Urban Outfitters (still the case for UO). However, stores like H&M and Forever 21 are in most of the suburban malls now. There were also stores that went out of business or closed a lot of stores nationally like Joseph-Beth Booksellers, Z Gallerie, Nine West, and the list goes on.

The restaurants still seem to do quite well. Try going to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner on the weekend and expect a near-2 hour wait. It appears that the movie theatre still does well, and LA Fitness is usually active.

They either need to lower the rents to attract more retail, attract stores that don't exist all over the region, or find stores that would appeal strictly to the residents that live there, or those that work there. For example, there is now a PetValu store at SSW. I wonder how some more fast casual restaurants would do...maybe a Chipotle, Piada, or Hello Bistro for the lunch crowds.

The only stores that I care about still remain at the SSW. All I wanted in life was easy access to an Urban Outfitters. We got it. The H&M and Forever 21 are pretty good for the kids. Sorry about the AE Outfitters though. I hope the new concept AE denim store opens up in that location.

Station Square project okayed by the Planning Commission.

Also, One Chatham Center will be converted to mostly residential, with 174 units of apartments. Between these two projects we're looking at another 500 apartments in/near downtown.
