Hi,

My partner just got a job near Hermitage, PA and we are looking for somewhere to live with MAX 1 hour commute but less would of course be better. We are looking for an area that has a quaint looking town, safe, nice housing, with easy access to shopping/movie theaters etc. So far most areas nearby seem very run-down. Any suggestions?

Beaver would be right around your time limit, in good weather... Winter time, well... Any interest, or have you considered going west, into OH?

Would definitely go into Ohio if there were good options out that way.

Post your question in the general PA forum, and perhaps the general Ohio forum (Youngstown likely has some upscale suburbs/neighborhoods if that's what you desire; perhaps check out Boardman or Hubbard).

New Wilmington, Volant, Grove City. The I-80 stretch gets hit with heavy amounts of snow. It would be best to live as close to hermitage as possible.

Some nice suburbs of Youngstown, OH that fit your description and are all around 30 minutes to Hermitage: Poland, Canfield and Howland. Poland and Canfield are on opposite sides of Boardman (Poland to the east and Canfield to the west). Boardman is the retail center for the Youngstown area with a mall, all of the standard big box stores, and three movie theaters. Howland is further north, and is close to Niles, which offers most of the same amenities as Boardman.

You're open to a 1 hour commute each way? Are you sure? My gosh, I'd never do that long a commute unless I had to.
