A high-rise with a couple of low-rise buildings will make a huge impact on this area. It will close the open section on Penn and recreate the lost canyon. The view from Ft. Duquesne Blvd and the Northside will change dramatically.

The convention center site would compliment the garage development while adding density to this section of downtown.

This is a pretty dead part of downtown. I'm surprised they are not doing other locations first.

What are you talking about? The Cultural District is arguably the most happening part of Downtown overall. Market Square probably gets more daytime foot traffic these days, but because of the presence of more apartments, restaurants, and the nearby theaters, that area of Penn is the most 24/7 part of Downtown.

Yup, looks like this is basically a smaller updated Riverparc. It is exciting, but I really hope they don't take down any nice historic buildings with good bones. As for the Edison Hotel, the strip club is on the bottom floor.. what is on the upper floors?

There are not any historic structures in the way of this project. The two structures on Penn Ave are protected and I am not worried about them.

Just imagine what goes on upstairs? Have you ever heard of the boom boom room? Lol

Are the two historic buildings protected by the historic district? The renderings show the project taking the whole block. I will look at the historic district map. Remember when they demolished a building in the South Side historic district for an Aldi? Also, what would a "Cultural District" be without gay bars?

It would be just a little less exclusive and more about inclusion!
