As for Shadyside, this wouldn't happen there so I can't imagine how it would go down.
who knows what someone that charges for free parking would do.

the second part is my point. your notion that "this wouldn't happen there" shows your bias towards the area so i don't really think you are in the position to judge others for expecting better. i wonder if your stance would be different if it was happening in your area?

It wouldn't happen in Shadyside because there is not a huge influx of people looking for free parking on 8 Sundays in the fall.

So that didn't happen here, ok then it's not relevant at all.

It wouldn't happen in Shadyside for a number of reasons, but I don't live there so I don't care either. When I see parking chairs I often move them, I hate that BS and have hated it for years, even in other cities I've lived in. I don't follow your bias comment, are you trying to once again claim that all neighborhoods (and even suburbs) have the same people with the same type of attitudes?

I've been yelled at by strangers in places I don't live. And I understand that it's complicated. What I don't do is jump to stupid exaggerated conclusions about vast areas based off those experiences.

Reading your comments is a blast, as they seem twenty years out-of-date. It's fun in a nostalgic way.

Yup. Lived there only a handful of years ago.
Have you visited Pittsburgh or Southwestern PA any time since 1995?

It's a negative opinion based off the tint of their glasses, not their proximity to the area.

i didn't say it was a negative. i was commenting on a prior poster's question of why they aren't seeing visual improvement to an area that they where expecting to. i compared to two other areas that are similar.

That's a good way to put it -- the disagreement is really about how to define "gritty" these days. Millvale is funny, because on the surface it certainly preserves the veneer of an average PA town, but once you spend time inside the newer establishments you start to see the differences pretty clearly.

Editing to respond to Paul -- I wouldn't read too much into the negative part; I just took that to mean if someone sees Lawrenceville as "gritty" it says a lot about where they are coming from, and what they mean by the word.
