Exactly this.

Interesting, make sense.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the DC area locations wins it and Amazon places offices in the other two nearby areas that also bid.

I think they'd have a lot of problems hiring/keeping people there, same with NYC. So much competition for talent, and high salaries with high COL.

Irregardless of where HQ2 lands, corporate real estate organization CCIM Institute has ranked Pittsburgh #1 for future corporate relocations.

Eh. When I lived in Northern Virginia it was a CONSTANT revolving door at my office as new hires and transplants would burn out from stress and/or hate the area and flee (as I did), but my office never had trouble replenishing the quickly-fleeing ranks. I'd suspect Amazon, with its "churn and burn" reputation, would manage well in NYC or DC.

"it’s also slated to be America’s first fully driverless-car-enabled MSA by 2020". has this timeline been put forward anywhere?

We don't want Amazon in Northern Virginia.

I just got back from PGH and saw Geekwire was doing some kind of symposium last night. I’d be curious to know if they offered any reasoning behind their selection of Austin as a top three contender. The kind of reasoning that goes a bit more into detail than “it’s cool” and “Whole Foods.”

After visiting Denver, the locals don't want it, and quite frankly they don't need it as their unemployment rate is 2.9%

Geekwire itself didn't rank the cities. The editor was asked by the reporters interviewing him what his personal opinion was on how the cities fared, so it was totally his own thoughts.
