We the people do not have to give up our right to know how much of our money our "leaders" plan to give away just because people else-ware are willing to give up their right to know. As taxpayers we have a right to know and voice our opinion before our money is committed.
It's not about giving up the "right to know." Bless your heart. You are so singularly focused that you can't see any other aspects, anything bigger.... anything more complicated.

I'm sure you have a lot of bumper stickers, but that's all they are.

This is not about bumper stickers. This is about real taxpayer dollars. The politicians on this area of pulled the wool over the eyes of the taxpayers over and over again and they handed the taxpayers the bill. The taxpayers have a right to know how much of the taxpayers money has been promised to Amazon.

The only people that are demanding Pittsburgh show the cards are ones that don't want Amazon here. Simple as that.

Those of us that want glory days to get going here in Pittsburgh want our city to have a chance and not allow anyone to see the cards in the deck.

We the people voted in our representatives to represent what is best for our city. Better schools, infrastructure and so-on. It could be great! Growth in a old rust-belt city? Doesn't happen often.

That is a generalization which you cannot prove. The fact is the "leaders" have done many things that cost the taxpayer money which were against the will of the taxpayers. It is the arrogance and condescending outlook of the "leaders" in this area who think they should not be accountable to the taxpayer. The taxpayer are the one who pays for it so they should know how much of their money is being committed before it is committed.

Will the higher wages be higher than the increased rent and other prices?
Will this help, or hurt, the average Pittsburgher?

That's the type of discussion we should be having. What sort of tax breaks were promised to Amazon?
Or is this going to be more of the same from this region's braindead populace and pandering politicians: the working class and middle class can subsidize the poor and the wealthy? We love to subsidize 'affordable housing' for certain demographics, and we love to subsidize flashy new apartments for our new techie Ãœbermensch overlords... but God forbid we talk about any sort of middle-class interests for the average person here.

I happen to think it will be positive. More tax dollars for badly needed infrastructure, a larger base of moneyed individuals to support our existing cultural institutions and establish new ones, and in-migration of folks from all sorts of cultural and idealogical backgrounds.

Traffic is a temporary concern that, at minimum, is solvable by an easy solution - don’t drive in areas of high traffic if you don’t like traffic. Housing prices, including rents and purchase prices are probably the only real valid concern.

Were you this incensed when PA bid against Ohio and WV for the Shell cracker plant?
