Well, it depends on how one defines 'works'. They hire many people but a lot of them still need to take advantage of government benefits to get by.
The tax beaks are ridiculous. I am pretty sure that $100 billion per year spent on corporate welfare could be put to better use.

We are in competition with a bunch of other cities to land Amazon. It would have some pretty big benefits and I would imagine our airport would expand by quite a bit if landed, not to mention an influx of people just to service the new arrivals. Pittsburgh has to give a lot to Amazon to get them. You can't blame Pittsburgh's leaders for doing what they need to do. Imagine all the tax revenue we are missing out on with UPMC and Pitt! Not to mention UPMC doesn't even serve the community as a whole with not accepting Highmark! Sick!

Anyway, it will be a long wait for all this crap.

I was unclear, gg, as I was referring to UPMC in my post. They should definitely be ponying up more tax money.
Amazon is a different animal, in my opinion.

I feel Amazon and UPMC are the same. Just businesses. I can't visit UPMC since my international company has Highmark, so to me they provide NO service unless I want to self pay. At least Amazon is reasonably priced. How much is an aspirin if you are in a room at UPMC? $15 for a .03 pill? I would say UPMC has a significant higher markup and like I said they pick and choose who can enter, which makes them a liability to our community. I blame our judges and people in charge for them allowing all this crap to go on since they are tax-free!!!!!!!!! You can't be tax exempt and only allow SOME people in your door if you are supplementing them with your local tax dollars. Shame on our government for allowing them to do such a thing! I would like to pay less in taxes since I am not allowed to enter their buildings.

Purchase your own insurance through UPMC and you can use them anytime you like at a reasonable cost. Nobody is forced to use Highmark insurance. There’s always a choice.

The city will certainly be better with Amazon than without them, but money talks.

Thanks but I pay plenty in taxes to help out. $400/month is cheap, especially for your health. If you can’t afford it be thankful you have Highmark. Lots of people don’t have healthcare at all.

I’m sure if Amazon comes here they’ll provide healthcare as well. Perhaps it will be through UPMC. Either way, I hope they choose here as there’s a lot of people that could use the job and benefits that will likely come with it.
