Six Penn is closed and gone.
I don't believe that Ten Penny has reopened since the pandemic began.
Penn Brewery has recently re-opened for in-person dining.

Church Brew Works is open.

There's not much downtown to be honest. Much has closed.
You're better off going to Butler Street (Lawrenceville) or Carson Street (South Side).

If you need to be downtown for going out - Las Velas is on Market Square and has good Mexican and a nice view. City Works on Market Square will have you covered for beer.

Downtown is very dead at present time, you and your wife will definitely want to plan on doing things outside of downtown.

I'd recommend Tryp on 40th St in Lawrenceville for your hotel - I don't know what the amenities are like, but just in terms of being walking distance to other things it'll be much much better than being downtown. You can walk over the 40th St Bridge and then down into the Millvale River Front Park (you'll have to go under the railroad overpass) and that connects you to the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. That might be a nice thing to do for you and your wife. That trail will connect you to get to Penn Brewery - look at the map and find where Heinz Street intersects with the trail - walk up Heinz Street and there will be a pedestrian bridge to get you over Route 28 and basically right to Penn Brewery.
Thanks, I was referring to Penn Brewery. We'll check out the Tryp and your trail recommendation - that sounds good. Looks like The Phipps is still open with advance ticket purchase so we may do that too.

Now, now, they're not heavy, they're my brothers. If it gets really bad I'll curl up with a bottle of Mad Dog and a copy of Mein Kampf - who knows maybe I'll see the light.

Nope, in fact it went bye bye. Now called "Scarpino by Scott Walton."

Same owners I think though as before, just new name and food list.

We had a good time - last weekend. Went to Warhol, which was pretty interesting to us, particularly for me - I didn't really know a whole lot about him so it kept me interested. We then went to the Penn Brewery and had a couple of Pilseners (I like the Kaiser the best) and some salmon. Then we went to Church Brew Works and had their Pilsener, and a Gose, and the Chicken Marsola - which was all pretty good. We went to the Wyndam downtown at the point - per wife request. It was pretty desolate, I assume due to COVID. On Saturday we decided to do COVID appropriate activities and went to OhioPyle for some hiking. It was raining a bit but still very beautiful countryside on the way down and the hiking was fun along the river. Funny thing, we bumped into our neighbors at Cucumber Falls and chatted for while there. Had a good lunch and some brews and then got back to the hotel in late afternoon. Then we had dinner at Vue412 which was nice - I really liked the wine we had there, and of course the view was really great. You guys are lucky to have such nice topography downtown to offer great views. The next day we were going to stop by Slippery Rock on the way home - for another hike - but the rain was pretty widespread - so we just headed home to see the grandkids. Anyway, had fun, probably be back next year.
