This was hidden in the food section... I assume they must be doing well. All the people complaining about no grocery downtown should be happy. They are also including a bar and dining area. It will be interesting to see how well this works considering its going to be on 3 floors, not one.

Good to see. It proves downtown needs grocery options. It amazes me that one of the big stores doesn't go in downtown. At least an Aldi would help.

can't imagine aldi's razor thin margins would support downtown rent. market street is perfect for the demographic around it. might have to stop in often if they begin carrying more.

A full scale grocery probably isn't the best idea but a paired down version with different amenities like Whole Foods 365 would do very well I'd think. There is one in Akron with two more slated to open in Ohio, so it's feasible it could make its way over.

No matter, it still won't carry the basics, requiring shoppers to make an additional stop.

What are the basics, in your mind? They already carry the "traditional basics"...milk, eggs, bread, paper towels, toilet paper, coffee, etc. They have meat, produce, cheese, cereal, and other things, too.

Yeah, I don't know about their plans to carry more of the basics, but it certainly would make sense to do it, to bring in regular shoppers more often. How do you happen to know they won't?

This format isn't that hard to do. Just do what bodegas do in NYC.

I think Market Street Grocery has a severe lack of pre-prepared foods you don't have to go up to a deli-counter for. I know I'm partially constrained because of being a vegan, but there's tons of times I go in there looking for something to eat on my lunch hour and walk away empty handed as I really don't want to eat a bag of chips or something. I mean, they could even just carry Axel's soft Pretzels or Najat's spinach pies or something.
