I realize that road work is just starting to get under way for 2018, but things are REALLY bad. Worse than I can remember for quite some time. And the massive potholes seem to be everywhere, downtown, main roads, highways, etc. Downtown has some craters that could swallow a vehicle. Even 79 has spots that could cause serious damage or accidents since people drive like 80mph on it. Places like Forbes Ave downtown looks like it's taken some mortar rounds recently. Anyone else think things are worse than normal with the roads? I'm sure Peduto, Fitz, and Wolf are on top of things.

I think because it was abnormally cold this winter the roads got worse.. and matter of fact the roads crews are nowhere to seen...

I just drove to Cleveland and back on Tuesday and they are terrible everywhere. There were some craters in Strongsville that I swear I saw some cars disappear into. It was a horrible winter for freeze/thaw cycles. The roads and my 100 year old plaster walls can attest to that.

Pittsburgh roads are more normal this year. Sure the past two years were mild, so the roads were much better than normal, but what you are seeing this year is the norm around here. They will have them fixed up in a jiffy, around August 30th.

At least it'll be this August 30th.

It's bad right now. The only visual warning is a large puddle.

For those of us that have lived here for decades, this is the norm. We will be ready for next winter around late August. It is what it is.

We were in Erie last weekend and it's the same up there. Lots of potholed and rutted streets. It's been a winter of cold and warm, rain and snow. In February, you could have had sunburn and frostbite all in the same month. Once spring really arrives and the weather stabilizes, they usually are able to get to them properly.

This year seemed to be worse than others, IMHO.
