We really can't complain. We had too many injuries this playoff season and just because some are back, doesn't mean they are 100%. They aren't. The Caps are just too physical and the refs don't care about tripping and whatever else is going on. It isn't going to happen for us this year. No complaints though. Two is two. Three is super elite, but it ain't going to happen.
Well stated.

Obviously I’m disappointed, but the penguins have had a great few years and get a well deserved break.. until next season!

That series showed an undisciplined Penguins team slacking off despite shenanigans from the Capitals and zebras. The Penguins need better defensemen.

As to “substandard goaltending”, here’s actual stats to disprove your theory.

Fleury
2017-2018 GAA 2.24
Career GAA 2.56
Career playoff GAA 2.57

Murray
2017-2018 GAA 2.92
Career GAA 2.58
Career playoff GAA 1.99

Almost like looking in a mirror, yet Murray is 10 years younger.
Apparently Murray wasn't up to the task. The Caps have his number now. lol

I mean even as many goals as he gave up, he still had a .908 save percetage and only 2.43 gaa, not exactly terrible. The penguins just couldn’t score on Holtby to any significant amount when it counted and let ALOT of shots get to Murray.

Capitals just wanted it more...way more...this year and the Penguins couldn’t put it together.

Great 2 year run, disappointed in the outcome but overall happy we got to see back to back cups.

As for the Caps, it will be a tough road ahead, but I've shifted my rooting interest to Ovi. The guy plays the game hard, has an obvious joy and passion for hockey and as great of a player as he is, he deserves to have his name etched on the cup. I hope he gets to this year!
