Our youngest will be relocating from the Detroit area to the Pittsburgh area in June of this year. His belongings will need to be boxed, packed and shipped to a Pittsburgh area storage facility in late May to coincide with sale of his Detroit area home. Transport from the Storage facility to a 'yet to be purchased' Pittsburgh area home will likely be in late June.

Looking for recommendation for local franchisees of the major national moving van companies, United, Atlas, Mayflower, North American, etc., as well as local firms specializing in short distance moves from storage to new residence.

Thanks,

Thanks,
My dad owned a moving company, he was good friends with the owner of vesley brothers United, they also own century 3 moving, they are a great organization, if you want to stay away from a franchise mover you can contact South hills moving, they were and maybe still are the largest independent national mover. If I was you I would use the same mover for the long distance, storage and local move. The less hands that touch your items the better. I would avoid donn far or hindman moving because they will bid your job low than hold your items hostage for more money.

For storage, both south hills and vesley brothers have a modern new storage facility that is kept very clean. where as Donn far or hindman has an old run down facility, the local Mayflower agent has an older facility on RT 30 but it was always clean when we picked up from there and the warehouse manager knew his stuff. the local Atlas and north America agents I won't step foot in there nasty building let alone store something in there. There is another United agent, it is parks in cranberry, I have no knowledge of there moving practices but there storage facility is up there with vesley, South hills and Mayflower.

I don't know if Two Men & a Truck do long distance moves or offer local storage. But a phone call will answer that

I had a similar situation when I moved from San Francisco to Pittsburgh. I used Steel City Movers. They were reasonably priced and did a good job.
