I have only been through Pittsburgh once, I really like downtown- went to the Warhol Museum on business. Just wondering though, is there any nature nearby? Like hiking mountains, outdorsy activities, lakes? And by nearby I dont mean anything over 40 minutes away! Thanks

No "substantial" mountains to climb, but hills there are aplenty. Within 45 minutes of the city you are limited to wooded hills, and the natural beauties wooded hills afford you. If you were to travel 2 hours North you'd hit the Allegheny National Forest, and about an 1.5 hour drive East will put you in the middle of the Laurel Mountains. Neither of which are reminiscient of the Rockies, but beautiful in their own right.

Are you talking rock climbing, or just steep hikes?

You've set a pretty tight range. McConnel's Mill/Moraine State Parks are not much outside of a 40 min drive from downtown. I don't know about the hiing trails there.
