I drive an electric car, which I charge at my home, which receives its electricity from a wind/solar provider. You’ll simply have to deal with the few times a year I fire up the pit, or smoke some meats.

Technically unless you have the windmill in your back yard, your power comes from a big fossil fuel guzzling power plant.

...caused by geography (being downwind from the industrial midwest) and topographic (major city in deep river valleys)...no matter if Pittsburgh gets rid of local sources we’re still dependent on other states and more regional changes.

I’d still rather have the air quality here where I can depend on it getting better than the southern growing cities which I only see it getting worse.

We still have a lot of valleys that trap pollutants. You can live on a hilltop with good air quality if that's important to you though.
