So after hearing he did a u-turn and now that I know the area he is from, it is obvious what happened. He is too old to want to encounter a protest, so that part is an accident. He was waiting in a string of traffic headed for rt. 65, which would be his normal route, but the traffic is not moving, so he decides to do a u-turn to take 279 and go down through the Heights instead. Sadly for him he encounters a violent mob blocking the street and they surround him and attack. He has no choice at that point to save his life and anyone in the car. I feel bad for that man. Just a bad situation as he just wanted to go home. Makes me sick now that I see his age and know he did that u-turn. That tells me he was just trying to go home and not out to encounter that violent mob. Figures the damn media is making this out to be some attack by that old man. How ridiculous. He made a U-turn, so that says it all to me. Just wanted to change route. It sure didn't work out well. Glad he at least got home safe. Best to avoid these mobs as they are very unsafe to be around as we can clearly see and the cops are doing nothing to protect the innocent people like this old man.

So the protest was indeed in East Liberty. Well done. It started at noon and went until about 2pm with protesters blocking the busy street in front of Target and then they got a police escort to I think Homewood down Penn.

I guess Pittsburgh Police are handling this very differently than other cities as they just let protesters do as they please and even damage things as they did to that poor old man in his car at PNC Park. I guess the police have to just let them do as they please if we don't want our city to be burned to the ground like parts of LA and St. Louis. Those places have not and will never fully recover from the destruction.

It is what it is, but the city is paying for what some little town officer did. Poor Pittsburgh, but it is only money I guess. Taxes should probably be increased for more police.

What exactly did the protestors in East Liberty destroy? Did they have a permit? How does their blocking off the street for a cause some may not believe in differ from blocking off the streets for a 5k for a couple of hours, or for a parade or construction? Parades and 5k races also require extra police, by the way.

With a 5k or a parade or even a planned protest takes out the surprise factor, police have the ability to schedule, people can plan a different route to work. Closing down a roadway does nothing for there cause.

^ I added the above to clarify my own thoughts on this. I'm losing sympathy the more and more these protesters are fixating their efforts, their frustrations, and their anger upon MY CITY when EAST Pittsburgh BOROUGH is at fault. Why are none of them calling for the East Pittsburgh police chief or Mayor PAYNE (not PEDUTO) to resign? Why have East Pittsburgh's officials been so silent on this?

Right.
If some of you would stop using this as a chance to have a few cheap shots at those you disagree with politically, it would be great. This is not the politics forum, go there to troll.
Yac.

Anyone hear anything about protests disrupting the 4th of July? Thinking about going down, but if that is going on, I think I will pass on downtown and just do something local.

I just said to my wife, life in the city is becoming, check the news before you leave home to see if anyone is blocking the streets/highways, etc, and check the weather to ensure we won't be encountering flash flooding.

Both a better situation to find yourself in than getting shot in the back. Amazing how a little traffic inconvenience for some just isn’t worth it even if the outcome is bringing attention to a life or death situation for others.
