If PIT-CDG going away makes room for BA to quickly ramp up to daily on LHR (on a far superior 787), then over all this was still a win. PIT has always had LHR as their top priority, as it has massively higher origin and destination traffic. It has much more local staying power than a CDG flight does.

I'm not shocked at all the Paris flight is getting dropped with year round service to Europe on WOW and now British Airways starting next year too. The times I checked the price to Paris from here, the nonstop on Delta was always seemed to be much more expensive than many other options available. I would have sucked up a transfer in Iceland or an East Coast city to save several hundred dollars myself.

From the response from the local corporate community, it sounds like the non-stop to London will do well. It's a natural fit, with many British companies in Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh companies with offices in Britain and the continent. At Heathrow, we're pretty much one-stop from anywhere in the world.

Also, Frankfurt is the second largest O&D market out of Pittsburgh to Europe, so removing Paris will pull double duty in supporting both the BA flight and the Condor flight. Maybe we could even see Condor increase service again.

I appreciate you for acknowledging that. I will acknowledge it is great that the presales from Pitt to Seattle have resulted in them using a larger plane. The Seattle flight will pay great dividends if Pitt can continue to support it. It seems like wise use of tax dollars.

That said I still don’t see the benefit of using tax dollars for these international flights instead of adding more domestic regional and west coast destinations.

On another note this board is nothing but “crickets” about the likely One Jet bankruptcy and county controller saying those members with ties to the airline should resign from the airport authority. Nobody is troubled by or questioning this?

Pittsburgh’s airport hit its lowest volume in 2013. Its rising, not declining. Those figures are from 2007-2017, meaning we haven’t quite climbed back up to 2007 levels.

All three are former HUBS so it makes sense they would se decline. The article also states that even though the 10 year average is down, there has been growth in the past years and the outlook is good. It's not really relevant. Shrink the timeline to 5 years and they are all growth airports.

It’s only relevant if your goal is to troll the Pittsburgh forum.
